What’s the craziest dream you have have for yourself? You can try to accomplish it. The key is turning your dream into a goal, believing you can,and then making your action plan. Friday my boss messaged me asking if I’m achieving my dream life ?
I realized, I am! My life looks great, but no one sees the work that went into creating all I have now and the foundation I set and keep creating for myself. if you’d been following me for a while you know I used to commute 3 hours a day to my job, I was miserable but each day worked on that commute towards my dream life. Working on building PartTimeExploradora and planning it each week ahead. Now I work remote and can work from anywhere I have WiFi.
5 year ago I was a broke backpacker and I wanted to keep traveling the world. There are so many ways you can do it, freelancing, working odd jobs ect. But that didn’t fit me. I wanted to work in tech, I wanted to learn how the internet worked, and one day be able to work from anywhere while traveling and meeting dope people.
I wanted to be the next Brown girl Anthony Bourdain. He was and still is my hero #RIP. So I set my goal then started looking into how to make it possible. Researching industries, networking, taking free ecourses, and telling everyone I knew I was GOING to be working remote one day and in tech.
If you meet me, I sound insane , I have huge plans and lots of them. But here is the thing. If your plans don’t scare you or failure make bigger plans. If you haven’t failed and have to start over then you haven’t tried enough. If you tell me your plans and goals I will probably hype you up and be like yes and end up wanting to make a strategic plan for you. Which I have done for people but realized it’s about following through. With out that determination and core belief that you CAN , you won’t . So believe you can.
Set that goal and start breaking it down, laying the frame work, making small weekly actions to get there. Each step being grateful to the universe, god , yourself (whatever you believe in) for what you’re accomplishing so far. BELIEVE that you can do it. Anyone that says otherwise prove them wrong.
3 years later , I’m working from anywhere and currently in my beloved Guatemala. I see resilience , entrepreneurship, and determination all around me. It’s in my blood and I’m here with a steady paycheck and now beginning my career in Data Science which I had once wanted to do years ago.
So I hope this serves as a little inspiration to remind you. You can. I come from poverty, I struggle with mental health issues , and I’m not anyone super special. I’m just determined and believe that I can. So if I can, why can’t you?
